When a prima ballerina in the Spanish National Dance Company commits suicide, Irene is chosen to replace her in the company's biggest production, "Giselle," and quickly becomes the target of jealousy and cruelty from the other dancers. Irene finds a friend in the lonely, mother-controlled Aurora. Isolated from the brutal realities of the ballet world, Irene and Aurora's relationship becomes increasingly obsessive until they run away together to find each other.
